The pilgrim's body is thin and hunched, almost entirely concealed beneath a long, weathered cloak that trails along the ground. Its head is lowered and its face cannot be seen. Ahead, the monolith resembles a mixture of eroded stone, fossilized bone, and a fragment of a structure too ancient to identify. The surrounding plain is covered in pale ash and scattered fragments of dark rock. An enormous empty grey sky occupies most of the composition.
